Richard Barker
Board member at ISSBRichard Barker was appointed as a full-time member of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in June 2022, effective 8 July 2022.

Before joining the ISSB, he served as deputy dean and professor of accounting at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, UK. In this capacity, he led Oxford Saïd’s sustainable business initiatives.
He has published a wide range of academic research papers on accounting and sustainability disclosures. He has chaired the expert panel of Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) and served as a member of several committees and bodies focused on corporate reporting in the UK and Europe, including the UK Corporate Reporting Council (UK accounting standard-setter), the Financial Reporting Advisory Board and the European Accounting Association’s Accounting Standards Committee.
Professor Barker served as a research fellow at the International Accounting Standards Board from 2001 to 2007.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in history and economics from University of Oxford and a PhD from University of Cambridge, UK.
Sharon Thorne
Former Chair of the Global Board at DeloitteSharon was the Deloitte Global Chair from 2019 – 2023. She has 37 years of experience auditing and advising clients across a broad range of sectors and has spent more than three decades on various Deloitte and external not for profit boards, including 14 years on the Deloitte Global Board.

An advocate for collective action on environmental sustainability and climate change, Sharon regularly engages with global leaders from businesses, governments and NGOs on these topics, and frequently speaks about ESG-related matters in public forums. She is a strong believer in the need for greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in business and civil society, and she has long championed greater diversity in senior leadership roles to build a more equitable future for all.
