Post COP 28 webinar, exploring the key discussion points and takeaways from COP28 and what this means for the board director community.
This high-level session will cover globally significant developments, a first response by board directors and experts as to whether their expectations for COP28 have been met and, given the time of year, a look ahead to 2024. It will also offer a perspective on how the agreements, policies and statements released at COP28 may influence and affect their role as a board director.

Emily
Farnworth
Director of Centre for Climate Engagement
Emily is the Director of the Centre for Climate Change Engagement at the University of Cambridge. She was previously Global Director, Low Carbon Economy Transition at Environmental Resources Management.
Prior to this Emily was the Head of Climate Initiatives at the World Economic Forum where she was involved in setting up the Climate Governance Initiative, the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders the Mission Possible Platform and the Natural Climate Solutions Alliance. She also Chairs the Advisory Committee of RE100 – an initiative that drives demand for renewable power.
Emily has over 25 years of experience working with businesses, government, and non-profit organisations to support the transition to a low-carbon economy. She has worked across multi-stakeholder groups and within specific industry sectors to collaborate on solutions to tackle climate change. She has led research, campaigns and communications strategies aimed at creating systemic change in the way businesses mange climate risk and decarbonize operations.

Non-Executive Director of EnQuest PLC, Terna S.p.A.
Karina is Ambassador & Founding Chairman of the Climate Governance Initiative. She serves on the boards of Italian power grid operator Terna S.p.A., on the Controls, Risks & Sustainability Committee and the Nominations, Governance & Scenarios Committee; She is a Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Remuneration & Social Responsibility Committee of UK independent oil & gas operator EnQuest plc.
Since the passage of the Paris Agreement at CoP21 in 2015, Karina has been working to build a global network for fellow board directors to drive the adoption of effective Paris-aligned climate transition strategies in the boardroom. The CGI operates in over 70 countries through a network of 30 national and regional Chapters in APAC, EMEA, the Americas and Africa.
Previously, Karina had a 25-year career in Finance, latterly running the Governance and Sustainable Investment activities of UK asset manager F&C Investments*.

Board Member of IBGC (Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance)
https://www.institutoluisa.org.br/Cristina worked at Petrobras in various executive positions. She was Undersecretary of Oil, Gas and Energy of the State of Rio de Janeiro and Director of the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum and Gas.
Today Cristina is a board member for companies in the oil and gas sector, and president of the Luisa Pinho Sartori Institute, an institution dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity. In addition, she is dedicated to the cause of diversity, inclusion and equity for gender and race in corporations. Cristina is Co Chair of the Women Corporate Directors Brazil, and board member at the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance. Recently she was appointed to participate in the Council for Economic, Social and Sustainability Development of the Brazilian Government.
Pim Valdre
World Economic Forum
Pim is the Head of Climate Ambition Initiatives at the World Economic Forum. Prior to her current position she also worked in the Industry Decarbonization team and the European government team at the Forum. She has broad experience on climate, net zero action, public private cooperation and sustainable development and international security policy, having worked in the Executive Office of the UN Secretary General (2012-2015) and in the Office of the President of the UN General Assembly (2004-2005). Other experience includes working to develop policy recommendations and research related to climate security and peacekeeping affairs at the New York based think tank International Peace Institute. She also worked as a Special Adviser in the UN Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during Sweden’s membership in the UN Security Council (2017-2018) where Sweden among other issues put climate on the agenda of the Council.
MA and BA in political science from Uppsala University and Institute d’Etudes de Science-Politiques in Paris. Worked and studied in Sweden, Australia, France, UK, US, Jordan, Switzerland.
Changhua Wu
Fellow at Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs, China
Changhua Wu is a specialist and policy analyst of China’s sustainable development, an advisor to governments and corporations on sustainability strategy and innovation, a strategist of public and private partnership engagement for clean energy transition and an advocate for climate leadership. She was one of the 15 global women leaders recognized by the Time magazine in 2019 for their leadership in fighting climate change.
Ms Wu supports Jeremy Rifkin’s China/Asia strategic engagement, with a particular focus on reshaping the vision and narrative of transformation at The Age of Resilience . As Vice Chair of the Governing Council of Asia Pacific Water Forum and a member of the Asian Development Bank’s Water Advisory Group, she contributes her expertise to advance water security and sustainable development in the region. She is a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Clean Electricity and a board member of Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation, which champions sustainable infrastructure financing standard and labeling.
Ms Wu served as the Executive Director of the Professional Association for China’s Environment. Earlier, she was the Greater China Director of The Climate Group, CEO of ENSR, Director of China Studies for the World Resources Institute, and Editor for the English Edition of the China Environment News.
